And Then There's a Chill in the Air...

Hello Lovelies!

I hope all is well for you out there this week. Things here are busy, busy as always. To start, I have made the Super Douche art print I talked about last post available as an archival print over at my Society6 shop! Four different sizes available and these prints are beautifully done by Society6.

What else? I have some very exciting projects that I will be releasing in the coming weeks that I've done for clients, my upcoming holiday promos for Stag and for my annual Halloween card that I send out every year to clients and friends. I really think you'll like what we've created (and I say 'we' because while these are my ideas and I shoot and organize them all, none of my work would be possible without a ton of people helping me out). Until then, I'll give you these hints of what I'll be shooting this weekend! (Yep, those are kids carrying a coffin and then things are going to go real crazy...)

I made a promise this Fall that despite my very busy schedule, I would get out there and do something every weekend to enjoy my favorite season. So, this past weekend, my Sweetie and her brother, and our niece went apple picking. The weather was chilly and misty, but we managed to avoid the drizzle and filled our bags with some beautiful apples and then warmed up with some fresh pumpkin donuts. (Which, if you haven't tried a donut fresh from the frier before, do it. Donuts are a whole different animal when they're homemade and fresh.) It was so much fun. See more pics here!

And speaking of Fall, I stumbled across an artist last week who I want to share with you all. Cali Lee of Halloween Treasure Studio does absolutely amazing work. She specializes in creating original works of art inspired by vintage Halloween packaging, decor, decorations, costumes, masks and so on using a very limited (and dynamic) color palette. But perhaps the best part of her work (besides her execution, style and use of color), is the fact that she paints on vintage artifacts. Vintage on vintage, you guys. I've seen a ton of people who do this, but she really is the best. You can't tell that the object was ever something before or that the work wasn't created 70 years ago. It's amazing. Maybe one day I'll be able to commission a piece...

I thought I'd wrap up with this hilarious vintage photo that I found recently. The boy is adorable, but the colors and his facial expression are just way over the top... plus, if I had to caption this shot it would say: Braaaaaaains!!!

Fall is Coming, Can You Feel it?

Hello Lovelies~

I hope you are all well out there. Things here are super busy as always, and there are some exciting things coming down the pike! To start, I have an opening for my Godfather Returns series this Friday 5-8 at Motorland Vintage American gallery and classic car showroom in Biddeford, Maine! (For those of you new to the blog, I was given the opportunity to shoot 2 of the cars used in the Godfather movies last year and these are the pieces being shown. I recreated a sort of gangland look with a little bit of violence and a lot of class.) Come out and join me if you're local!

I will be shooting a fun project this weekend that I can't wait to share! Inspired by a vintage ad, I am going to put my own spin on it (of course). It will be sort of a companion piece to my Meat-B-Gone work. A pair of prints that attempt to turn the somewhat misogynistic 50's on their ear. Here's a little hint to get you ready for it. Standby for that!

And last piece of business, I still need one more 8-9 year old boy for my upcoming Halloween shoot! If you or someone you know has a boy in this age range who can focus and take instruction in the midst of distraction, send him my way! I need to get these kids fitted and ready to go. Pass it on if you know anyone. These shots will make them look amazing!

I have found some amazing things that I wanted to share with you Kids. The first one comes courtesy of one of my favorite blogs: Monster Brains. Apparently, back in the day, companies made sheets of monster stickers that were ama-zing and featured a ton of really top-knotch art in sticker form. That's right, you could put these anywhere (and I imagine people did). Here are just a few of the sheets you'll see if you click on that link up there. I'll take one of each, please.

Then I found this totally random barber shop quartet site for the Poughkeepsie Newyorkers Chorus that had some high quality vintage choral costumes that I just had to share. I genuinely likes the tuxes and all the different colors there at the beginning, but then when you get down to those rainbow gangster outfits and the Fred from Scooby Doo disco outfits, it takes a turn for the worse. Coming from a show choir background myself, I know costumes can get really hideous, really fast. Still, these sort of made my day...

And speaking of making your day, I'm going to end this post with an amazing Halloween shot I found recently. Everything about this is perfect: the dark eyes staring out of that mask, the cat's expression like "WTF?!" and of course, the wolf mask being worn by a little girl in a dress. Perfection. I love it.

Dark Playland...

I hope all is well out there in the world for you! Things here are busy as usual, but so much to share. First, I took a spin down to Old Orchard Beach to people watch and see the rides and to take some pictures. It's neat to live so close to such a big tourist attraction. A ton of vacationers from Quebec, Canada stay down there so it's chock full of craziness. Take a peek at my latest shots, more here.

I also turned some of those shots into my Welcome Swami gif. He reminds me of the Zoltar machine from Big. It's creepy, he kind of squeaks as he moves. It kind of looks like he'd climb down from there and eat small children and kittens at night to be honest. Regardless, he lives on my blog now and you may use him too. Enjoy!

Speaking of creepy, I recently read an article about Baron Georg Haas' dog collection at Castle Bitov. I say collection, because the 51 dogs are stuffed. You heard me. Apparently, Baron Haas was an animal lover who had his favorites taxidermied upon their deaths. The Baron has been dead for many years, but his dogs are still cared for and remain in pristine condition. They're the big attraction at Castle Bitov, in fact. That's taking eccentricity to a whole new level, folks.

And going to the other end of the scale, we have these adorable and highly styled kids, featured on the Marie Claire Italy site. The sets, the clothes, the children themselves? Amazing work here. I don't know how the photographer got them to look so mature (and plotting), but he did it in spades. The little girl in blue is my favorite.

Sexy Shipwrecks and Scary Suitcases

I hope you are all well and that if you celebrate Easter, you enjoyed the past weekend. I had a lovely day with my gaggle of nieces and nephew all dressed up in their little outfits. Some bright eggs, some ham, a ton of candy... perfection in my opinion. I snapped some nice spring shots of the day that I thought I'd share:

On a darker note, I have added yet another vintage stenciled suitcase to my friend's boutique here in town. This one is called Skeleton Tree and features a nice gold Sears Courier suitcase with a custom stencil on the front. It's signed just like a piece of art and would add a hip and haunted piece to your travel luggage if you're interested...

I have also listed the entire Kong vs. El Tigre print set in my shop! Now you too can own this hilarious series; perfect for the office, den or TV room.

And speaking of shopping, I found a great new artist I wanted to share with you! Have you heard of Dienzo? No? Well, then you're in for a treat! I found Rick Dienzo's work via a blog I follow and I fell in love. It's like The Addams Family meets Beetlejuice the cartoon. Very fun stuff. Here are just a few of the prints he sells:
