Inked Dames...

Hello Lovelies~

I hope you're all doing well out there! Things here are humming right along. So much to share! To start, I just shot the 6th piece in my secret project this past weekend. That's about the halfway mark as my goal was to do roughly 12 shots total. Once those are all edited, I will release the first half just to get the excitement up about this project. I think you will love it, but until then, here are some teasers from the shoot over the weekend.

And this was a really fun (and beautiful) pair of ladies, so after I got what I needed for the project, we played around with some head shots. Here are some of those. Aren't they beautiful? I love it when my models know how to have fun.

And, I recently decided it was time to update the sign on my studio door with something a bit fresher that also had my contact information on it so potential clients who stop by when I'm closed or who happen to pass my door know how to reach me. I decided to use a shot a took awhile ago that I've really stayed in love with. The colors, the model's look, that red hair! Love. So, here's the new sign and that sign on the door! Welcome, gang. It's time to make some beautiful...

And to wrap up, I have something totally random (and awesome) for you Kiddies. The holidays are coming, and I know you all love weird, funny things. Well, imagine my pleasant surprise when I found this amazing thing over at Archie McPhee! It's a vinyl record, made to look like meat, entitled Meat Parade. What. The. Hell. The entire thing is a riot, but I had to order a copy just to know exactly what Meat March and Slab'o'Meat sounded like. The answer: about what you'd expect. So, pick up a copy for Uncle Vernon this Christmas, he'll thank you for it!*

It's Raining Pom-Poms...

Hello Lovelies~

I hope you are all doing well out there! So much to share this week, as usual. To start, I shot an amazing engagement session last weekend and I wanted to share some of the finished shots with you. We shot out at an abandoned boys camp and braved bats, ticks and spiders to get these amazing shots. More can be seen on my Flickr page. I also just wrapped a shot for another client that I'll give you a hint about. Yeah, that's an apple with black glitter on it. What do you think we were shooting? Any idea? I should be posting those final images next week!

And, I have an amazing shoot coming up this weekend that's the biggest one I've ever done! We are shooting a Clue-inspired shoot in a great old building in the area, complete with butler, victim and of course, all the usual suspects. In fact, I am posting an image clue a day for the next week on my Twitter page. Gather all 7 clues and be the first person to name them all in order on my Facebook wall and you win the Clue print of your choice once I post them for sale in my shop. All these shoots have me trolling the Goodwill stores for pieces and I found a couple of items I had to buy for future shoots, or I may sell them. A vintage Pendleton men's shirt with a nice, bright plaid on it and I bright red wool men's vest. You never know what you'll find!

Have you heard of Christina Ung? She's an illustrator with a sort of James Jean style who makes slightly unsettling but always beautiful and delicate work. She ran a promo recently where she'd send you an art postcard signed if you sent her $1 shipping. Well, I did it because I loved the image and sure enough, I got it the other day! Take a look at her portfolio... good stuff.

New Dresses & Scared Squirrels...

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you are all doing well out there this week. So much to share with you as usual. To start, I have listed some new prints in the shop that I think you'll enjoy. A nice pair of Maine beach prints for you classy patrons here. (You get both of the prints below for one price. Good times.)

And, for those into the more unusual, I played around with a shot from the Forts I visited last weekend and turned it into a fake pulp novel cover, now available as a fine art print! That can be found here. Fun stuff, huh?

In a final piece of business news, I am slowly redesigning all of my sites to match my portfolio. (Oh, it's a tedious business, but necessary.) This past weekend, I redesigned my Twitter and Society6 pages. Next up: this blog. I will keep you posted on my progress!

Oh, and speaking of fun stuff, my Sweetie got a brand new dress for early spring and wanted me to shoot her in it. Well, I can't just go the normal, boring route, so I whipped our taxidermied squirrel off the wall and took this shot. Kinda cool, huh? I love how all the elements came together on this one.

Have you guys heard of the digital illustrator Matthew Lyons? No? Well, his work is sort of a mix between schematic drawings, futuristic sci fi art and architectural blue prints. I adore it. It's rare that I find a truly unique style like this.

I'd like to wrap up with an open question: Do any of you out there use Google+ successfully? And if so, can you recommend a tutorial to get started? I feel it's a place I need to be, but every time I jump into the menus, it gets confusing. Let me know what you've learned (any tips are appreciated).

Love may be in the air, and she's got a crossbow...

Hello Lovelies~

Well, here we are in August already. Hard to believe the last month of summer is already upon us. We've had some crazy heat up north here this summer, but that hasn't kept me from working tirelessly to bring you new eye candy. First up, here is my latest art print: Cupid Revisited. I decided to throw the babies and the men in diapers out the window and create a more cutting edge cupid with weapons and bloody wings and raw power. Let me know what you think!

And, I also recently shot a new model to help her on a project and she let me post a few pics from the shoot for you Kids. I call this shot Space Girl Pop and she is also available as a print in my shop. The rest of the photos from that shoot are on my Flickr page, go check 'em out!

I have started setting up my profile over at Behance (more to follow on that), and I found a wonderful artist over there I wanted to share with you. Mariana Monteagudo's Fake Idols series is just amazing. The work is mixed media so it uses materials of all types, as well as hints of popular culture, to create works that seem both familiar and strange simultaneously. These pieces are cute and unsettling at the same time, which I think is the point. Still, take a look and let me know what you think.

And I'm going to wrap up with a movie recommendation. Do you like the Austin Powers movies? Modesty Blaise? Foxxy Brown? Well, if you like that 1960's international spy tongue-in-cheek humor, then you'll love In Like Flint. It stars James Coburn as the rather unlikely ladies' man and genius action hero spy. The sets and the corny dialogue make it worth the watch and there are tons of neat gadgets and costumes to keep you watching. I won't bore you with the plot, but if you have a chance, it's on Netflix right now. Here are some teaser shots:

Shipwrecks, Closets and Shriners...

Hello Lovelies~

I hope you are all well out there. Things here are crazy busy, but going really smoothly. (Which means a lot of work is being produced in a short period of time and it's all looking really good!) As promised, here are some of the shots from the sexy shipwreck shoot I did last weekend. You can see the whole series on my Flickr page. I want to thank the entire team of people who helped me and the models for being such troopers. It was a pleasure.

And here's a teaser for the shoot I just did this past weekend. I found a wonderful vintage Shriner parade outfit on Ebay and I couldn't pass it up. The outfit inspired the shoot and I think this one is going to blow your minds.

And speaking of mind-blowing photography, I discovered Eric Schaal via Etsy's Craft + Style Blogosphere post this past week. Schaal did a ton of work for LIFE Magazine among many others, and all of his work is compelling, but it's his Experimental Housing Storage photos that really amazed me. When closets were coming into vogue in homes of the 40's and 50's, LIFE commissioned Schaal to document as many as possible via scale models and real home photos. The results pop with Kodachrome hues and are deliciously voyeuristic. Take a look:

And speaking of amazing photographers, Celeste Canino does some amazing conceptual work that I've been enjoying. She seems to have some really fun clients who let her play with bright colors, over the top personalities and cutting edge concepts. She also uses a ton of different approaches (black and white, filters, hyper-saturation) depending on the project, which I admire. Peep it out:

Let's wrap up with some funny news, shall we? We all know the royal wedding was a huge deal, millions of people were watching and there was a lot of pressure to get everything perfect. Which is why it's hilarious to me that apparently, a very young bridesmaid snuck a "Wiggly Worm" into one of the group shots. Best. Photo. Ever.
