New Spaces... Old Clown Dolls

Hello Lovelies~

I hope you are all well out there this fine Monday. I have so much to share. First of all (and most excitingly), I have just signed a lease on a big, beautiful photo studio space and it's all mine! (I have been sharing space with another photographer for almost a year and I am going out on my own.) I already have my first shoots lined up and I expect many great things to show you in the coming months!

In other news, I have two new consignment partners here in Portland who will be carrying some of my prints and cards and the 2012 Venomous Vixens calendar! The first, is The Merchant Company which is a boutique specializing in artwork and a ton of other great things you can't live without. The second, is Ferdinand, a store that specializes in home decor. Both are great, both deserve your business and both support my work. Doesn't get any better than that!

I have finally posted all of the shots from the laser tag shoot I talked about last week for Trigger Combat Sports on my Flickr page. The client was delighted with them and I think they came out just great, go take a peek! (I never know what a client will want next, but I have yet to disappoint. Haha.)

Oh! And I have gotten some pretty cute little things that I want to share with you Folks. I think you'll appreciate them. First up, I had this little chartreuse deer made by the wonderful owner of VioletPie just for me! I can't say enough good things about both Jennifer's (the owner) work and how cute this little girl looks in real life. If you need cute, wee gifts to stuff stockings this holiday season... go to her, Lovelies.

And speaking of holiday, I just finished shooting our holiday card (I make one every year, it's a tradition) and one of the 'models' in the shot was this little guy! Isn't he cute? The vintage face? His wee clown body? I love him so. He makes such a great addition to my menagerie of cute office toys. But, he doesn't have a name... can you give him one?

Whew, well that about wraps up this week's post.

Until next time: unpleasant dreams...

Delivering the Goods...

Well Hello Lovelies!
The last couple of days have been pretty busy up in the studio. First, I added the finishing touches to the clown paintings, dirtied them all up so they look old and sideshow banner-like.

Take a look:

I will be offering prints of these clowns at my shop so fear not my Lovelies. Or, you may come by the gallery if you live in Maine and get the originals!

I'm also pulling some of my other paintings out of my shop and putting those on consignment, this will give me room to add more exciting things and it gives me a chance to offer another look at the gallery. These may look familiar if you've ever visited:

And while we're on a circus theme, this is a photo I just submitted to a photo competition recently (fingers crossed gang). This photo was styled, shot and manipulated by me and it touches on the idea of animal cruelty in the modern-day circus. Prints will be available in the shop next week.

Whew! That's all for now Pets. Though I have a bit of sad news for you, the Guinness World Record holder for the longest fingernails just lost 28 feet of nails when she was thrown from her SUV in an accident and they broke off. Luckily, she wasn't hurt, but her fingernails are another story. Needless to say... Until next time: unpleasant dreams.

Yes, Clowns.

Well Hello Lovelies!
I am very excited to announce that I'll be putting some of my pieces into a local gallery/shop on consignment! In anticipation of this, I've been playing around with a new set of paintings... clowns. No, not scary Pennywise ones (though maybe eventually I'll do that), these little (4x4) gems could almost go in a baby's room... almost. (We don't want to get carried away with the sweet stuff.) They aren't done, more magic to do but here's a preview:

Sweet, huh? The last one's going to be the only girl in the gang.

Enough business talk, I've found a new illustrator who I absolutely love: Anke Weckmann. Go check her stuff out, she sells on Etsy too.

And as a last bit of randomness, I was reading an article today that said with the economy tanking out (my new favorite phrase... tanking, not economy) and I guess with winter (???) beard-growing (in men, obviously), is on the rise. In fact, sales of razors has decreased 1% since December and there's actually an International Beard Growing Contest & Championship with 36 chapters in the US. WHAT?! What the heck is going on here?! Not sure folks, what I DO know is too many people have too much time on their hands.

Until next time: unpleasant dreams...
